Text reads: Alice and Jean were sisters and companions for almost 70 years. They agreed on one thing: there is no true blue flower in nature.

Alice and Jean
This piece incorporates several elements: an image transfer on muslin that was layered onto woven strips of fabric. The fabric strips were dipped in beeswax, woven, and heated to melt them into one piece. These layers are attached by nails to a painted wood surface. Writing onto the muslin and metal identification tags finish off the piece.

Alice was my grandmother, and Jean was her sister. I frequently write fictional vignettes about anonymous historic photographs. However, this is my first piece that is an interpretation of a factual relationship.
